Associate Scientist I
FYR Diagnostics
My name is Tre Blohm, and I am the Associate Scientist at FYR Diagnostics, where I have the role of performing and managing R&D-related activities for DNA sequencing, where my expertise is in small input and degraded sample material. I have also had a role as a Clinical Lab Tech and have performed SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR tests as well as variant surveillance sequencing. I'm certified as a Molecular Diagnostic Technician (MDT) by American Medical Technologists (AMT) and licensed by the State of Montana Board of Clinical Lab Practitioners as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist.
I graduated with my Ph.D. from the University of Montana, studying ancient DNA and paleoepidemiology. I dig in caves, find Neolithic-era materials and remains, and use DNA to tell their life history. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Science (double major in Anthropology and Biology). I also have field experience in biological anthropology and forensic anthropology, ranging from archaeology in caves to modern forensic anthropology field surveys.
