Assistant Professor, Neuropathology
Rutgers/New Jersey Medical School
My name is Misha Movahed-Ezazi (MD) and I am a neuropathologist and assistant professor at Rutgers/New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. I completed my four year pathology (AP/CP) residency training at Hartford Hospital in Hartford Connecticut and subsequently recieved my board certification in both anatomic pathology and clinical pathology. I then completed a two year neuropathology fellowship at NYU Langone focusing on tumor and non-tumor of the brain, brain tumor-based molecular pathology, epilepsy neuropathology, telepathology, artificial intelligence and stimulated Raman histology (SRH). During my fellowship, I received broad exposure to a large volume of adult and pediatric brain tumors, as well as variety of neurodegenerative diseases, as well. My primary research focus has been in ex-vivo microscopy conducting a recently published clinical validation study for SRH-image based intraoperative diagnosis of CNS tumors as well as writing and publishing the first ever textbook chapter on SRH-images (Diagnostic Pathology, Intraoperative Consultation 3nd Edition; Susan Lester, MD). I am also trained in proper interpretation of molecular assays pertaining to CNS tumors such as DNA methylation, next generation sequencing, fusion sequencing, and MGMT methylation. Currently, I am a faculty member and assistant professor of neuropathology at Rutgers where I continue to pursue my passion for brain tumor pathology as well as molecular pathology and telepathology.
