Insha Pun is a Molecular Pathology Quality Improvement Assistant at East Carolina University's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. She is a vital member of Dr. Yaolin Zhou's QI initiative which aims to eliminate obstacles to precision oncology through an innovative molecular consultation service across the 29-county region of Eastern North Carolina. Pun will present a poster at the AMP annual meeting titled "Molecular Consultation Service Using New Clinical Pathology Billing Codes in a Rural and Underserved Region.”
With a Master of Arts in Health Communication and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she is deeply committed to addressing healthcare disparities in marginalized populations both in Nepal and the United States. Pun’s experience includes research projects involving adolescents with disabilities, maternal-child health improvement with UNICEF in Nepal, and leading mental health sessions for the UNESCO Center for Peace. She is interested in pursuing medicine and combining her experience in health communication to provide care locally, generate evidence, and facilitate interdisciplinary dialogues for addressing health disparities.
Insha enjoys nature walks, fellowship with people from other cultures, and learning new languages.
