Medical Laboratory Scientist
Texas Children's Hospital
My name is Aliza Rahman and I currently work at Texas Children's Hospital in the Division of Laboratory Medicine as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCP). I have the wonderful opportunity to partake in both clinical and research work at my institution, allowing me to expand my knowledge of molecular diagnostics and infectious diseases. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from Baylor University. While in school, I completed my clinical rotations through the Baylor Scott & White CLS program in Temple, Texas and earned my certification as a medical technologist. The past six years I have focused on clinical and research work, consisting of various validations for hospital testing systems. Some of the research and validations I have completed consists of various infectious disease assays as well as Next-Gen Sequencing on PDGFR-alpha that may cause development in cancer. I hope to gain even more knowledge in this field in order to continue making advancements in patient care and infectious diseases. When I am not studying up on molecular infectious diseases, I enjoy travelling, reading, dancing, and spending my time with family and friends.
