Dr. Stellrecht received her B.S. in Medical Technology from the University of Buffalo and both her M.S. and Ph.D. in Virology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She completed a research postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Neoplastic Disease at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, followed by a clinical postdoctoral fellowship in Microbiology at Albany Medical Center.
Dr. Stellrecht joined the faculty of Albany Medical College in 1995 and is currently a Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and Director of Molecular Diagnostic at Albany Medical Center. She has a secondary faculty appointment in the Center for Immunology and Microbial Diseases at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Stellrecht serves on various journal editorial boards and professional committees. Her clinical and research interests include viral diseases, detection and monitoring of microbial infections, and molecular diagnostics. She has authored over 150 articles, abstracts or book chapters in clinical virology or molecular diagnostics.
