Assistant Professor
University of Rochester Medical Center
Audrey Jajosky, MD, PhD, FASCP, is a physician-scientist, board-certified molecular pathologist, and Associate Director of the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Following MD/PhD training as a National Institutes of Health-funded pre-doctoral fellow, she completed a clinical pathology residency at Case Western Reserve University and a molecular genetic pathology fellowship at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Jajosky is excited by breakthroughs in genomic medicine that have spurred new treatments for cancers and genetic disorders once thought to be incurable. For example, molecular discoveries have inspired new classes of drugs like Spinraza for spinal muscular atrophy, gene-editing techniques for sickle cell disease, and new tumor-agnostic and "n-of-1" therapies for rare diseases.
Her own research has helped to molecularly characterize blood disorders, adult and pediatric glioblastomas, thymic neuroendocrine tumors, and rare germline variants involved in cancer predisposition. As Medical Director of the University of Rochester’s Medical Technologist Training Program and an instructor for the University’s Explorations in Pathology summer program, Dr. Jajosky enjoys mentoring others and volunteering to teach high school students about the pathology profession.
Dr. Jajosky is pleased to collaborate with the Genomics Organization for Academic Laboratories (www.goalabs.org/) to advance clinical molecular testing, research, and education. She recently began a Master of Science program in medical management at the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business.
