Tanya Schwab, M.S. is a Clinical Variant Scientist in the Molecular Hematopathology Laboratory at Mayo Clinic with over two decades of experience in clinical, research, and laboratory settings. As part of the Molecular Hematopathology Lab, she preforms advance curation of somatic variants identified through next-generation sequencing. Prior to joining the Hematopathology Lab, she was a Principal Research Technologist in the Functional Validation Lab for the Center for Individualized Medicine at Mayo Clinic, preforming functional assays to test variants of uncertain significance in rare disease. Her other professional research experience includes affinity optimization of antibodies for use in cancer therapy, a clinical trial comparing treatments for light chain amyloidosis, genetic modifiers of the vertebrate stress response using zebrafish, and exploratory research and development in the creation of novel feline, canine and swine vaccines. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biotechnology from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Mayo Graduate School.
