Senior Scientist
Intermountain Precision Genomics
I am Dr. Mickey R. Miller, PhD, Senior Scientist of the Clinical Development Team at Intermountain Precision Genomics. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at Brigham Young University. I also earned my PhD degree in Biochemistry at Brigham Young University. My graduate research investigated ribosome rescue in bacteria by the tmRNA/SmpB complex in Dr. Allen Buskirk's lab. I then joined Dr. Sarah Franklin's lab at the University of Utah for post-doctoral training in proteomics. We investigated the role of the methyltransferase Smyd5 in cardiac hypertrophy. I then joined Intermountain Precision Genomics as a senior scientist in the Translational Science Center. We performed next-generation sequencing for internal and external investigator's research projects. During this time, Intermountain Precision Genomics partnered with deCODE genetics to map the genomes of over 150,000 participants in HerediGene: Population Study. With the help of deCODE genetics, I oversaw the development of high-throughput whole genome sequencing at Intermountain Precision Genomics where we sequenced and genotyped 10,000 participant samples for the HerediGene study. I currently oversee the development of clinical testing and automation at Intermountain Precision Genomics.
