Wei-Chun "Jim" Hsu, MD/PhD is a fellow of clinical informatics and moleuclar genetics pathology at Houston Methodist Hospital in the great city of Houston, Texas. After completing his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, he came back to Texas to enroll in the MD-PhD Combined Degree Program at UTMB Galveston, where he presented his dissertation on investigating macromolecular interactions of voltage-gated sodium channels. After learning that pathology was the best medical specialty out there, he enrolled in anatomic and clinical pathology training at Houston Methodist, where he contributed to several interesting projects looking at somatic mutations in lung adenocarcinoma, as well as digital pathology initiatives, and became chief resident. Since then, he has been interested in applying analytics, designing visualizations, and creating systems to make new discoveries, improve efficiency, and optimize workflows. He is also a forever student in all things data engineering and AI, and enjoys seeing what the field has to offer in the future.
