Iman Sarami, M.D., is a physician-scientist currently serving as a Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellow in the Department of Hematopathology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. A board-certified hematopathologist, Dr. Sarami received his training at The Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, subsequent to a pathology residency at Geisinger Medical Center. He initially earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in Iran.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Sarami has a keen interest in translational research and the application of innovative technologies for diagnosing hematolymphoid malignancies. During his postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA, his research was centered on cancer and stem cell epigenetics, leading to a publication in Molecular Cell. Recognized with the Hartwell Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, Dr. Sarami furthered his research at Northwestern University, emphasizing the creation and characterization of functional renal tissue through the use of stem cells, organoid technologies, multi-OMICS, and single-cell analysis. His dedication to the field is evident in his numerous publications, gathering over 900 citations.
