Yang Zhao is a Biomedical Engineering PhD candidate at Johns Hopkins University, where a master's degree in the Biomedical Engineering Department was also earned. As a member of the BioMEMS Lab led by Dr. Tza-Huei Jeff Wang, Yang's interests cover the fields of microfluidics and epigenetics with clinical applications in cancer diagnosis, screening, and surveillance. Her research focuses on the development of multiplexed digital epigenetic molecular bioassays for assessing DNA methylation biomarkers from liquid biopsies. Yang completed a bachelor's degree in Biological Science at Xi'an Jiaotong – Liverpool University, China, studying the effect of immunosuppressive drugs on carcinogenesis. Outside the work, Yang loves paying badminton and pickleball.
