LGG fellow
University of Utah/ARUP laboratories
Dr. Ting Wen is currently a Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) fellow at the Department of Pathology, University of Utah School of Medicine/ARUP laboratories. He obtained his medical degree from Capital Medical University (Beijing, China). Subsequently, he moved to Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ) to pursue his doctorate degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience. He was then recruited by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (Cincinnati, OH) to continue his post-doctoral studies in the Division of Allergy and Immunology focusing on transcriptome-based molecular diagnostics of a GI tract allergic disorder – eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). Due to excellent contributions to the clinical management of EoE and impactful publications, Dr. Wen was promoted to a faculty, focusing on single-cell transcriptome studies on tissue resident pathogenic T cells in EoE. He kept the momentum of publishing his milestone works in top clinical research journals. And his laboratory was federally funded by NIH for performing cutting-edge allergic transcriptome studies. Thereafter, with a robust interest in clinical patient care, Dr. Wen went on to pursue a clinical fellowship at the Department of Pathology, University of Utah School of Medicine/ARUP laboratories, with dual trainings in Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics. As an LGG trainee, Dr. Wen has a remarkable publication record of 57 peer-reviewed publications, not only including those research papers in allergy/immunology but also well extended into his LGG fellowship. Dr. Wen is enthusiastic about teaching, test development/optimization, and rare disease diagnosis. Dr. Wen is board-eligible by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics with the goal of being a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics.
