Dr. Esther Babady is a board-certified clinical microbiologist with expertise in the molecular laboratory diagnosis of infectious diseases. She received her doctoral degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Microbiology both at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She is Chief of the Clinical Microbiology Service, an Attending Microbiologist and Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She is currently the President of PASCV, the Chair of the ASM Evidence-Based Laboratory Guidelines Subcommittee and a member of the Association for Molecular Pathology Professional Relations Committee. She was recently appointed to the CDC Clinical Laboratory Improvement Advisory Committee. She is a Senior Editor for Microbiology Spectrum and a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Virology and the Journal of Molecular Diagnostics. She has published extensively on the development, validation and evaluation of molecular methods for infectious diseases diagnostic and their impact on cancer patient outcomes. She is an elected fellow of Infectious Disease Society of America and a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.
